Getting to know the details about what goes into making a great photo booth experience memorable for you and your guests makes a world of difference! Here are 7 questions you should ask when booking a photo booth.
1. What kinds of images can I get by using your Photo Booth?
Photo Booths have recently evolved into what is now commonly known as “selfie stations.” Why? Because photo booths have so many different capabilities thanks to technology! You can now instantly share that picture, GIF, Boomerang, or video you took 10 seconds ago to any form of social media. When choosing your Photo Booth, ask for examples of recent events that the company has done. This gives you a clear expectation of what you have to look forward to!
2. Are you able to offer external power incase there are no power outlets available?
Now, this one is actually very UNCOMMON to ask… but we decided to include it here because this question does come up. And when it does, you should make sure that the company you choose can provide what you need. What if you are looking to hire a photo booth, but you are having a beach wedding and there are absolutely no outlets anywhere? Will the photo booth company you choose have an external power source available? Whether that be via battery or generator, having an external power source always comes in handy when these situations arise! We do offer this option regardless of where your event is held. Having a wedding in the middle of the forest? Yep. We can do that.
3. Will my photo booth come with an attendant?
Having a well-trained professional photo booth operator can really make or break your photo booth experience. Photo Booth operators make sure that the line is running smooth, the props are all adjusted correctly. Most importantly, they help guide people to some really fun photos creating an overall better photo booth experience! We offer at least one professional photo booth attendant at each event.
4. Do you provide any props?
Some photo booth companies will provide props, while others choose to go one hundred percent digital or have no props at all. There are also some companies who may ask that you provide your own props based off of your event theme. We believe that props enhance things to another level. That’s why we recommend choosing a photo booth company who will provide props for you, as well as have the option to provide custom props based off of your event, should you so choose that! Some companies (we offer this option here at Phos,) carry the option of hand making different props specifically for you for a truly personal touch to your celebration!
5. What kind of lighting do you use for your photo booth?
Good lighting is key to a great photo booth picture. Just like a professional photographer knows to use his/her flash in certain lighting scenarios, a good photo booth needs professional lighting in each setting. Looking out for a photo booth company who uses high quality, professional lighting will make your pictures come to life. We use full color RGB professional grade lighting on both sides, as well as a full color strobing ring light in the center.
6. Do you offer different kinds of backdrops?
Making sure the photo booth company you choose offers different backdrop options gives you the freedom to choose what best fits your aesthetic. Want something more classic like black or white for a more diverse crowd? How about something colorful that stands out to make a bold statement? There are also holiday backdrops that many companies offer. One cool option is also a green screen option, which gives you complete control over your own custom made backdrop. We now offer every backdrop option mentioned in this post!
7. What kind of photo booths do you offer?
There are typically two different kinds of photo booths that you will see. Open-air photo booths and closed photo booths. The closed photo booth style is ideally a small room made for 2-3 people that you sit in with a camera taking your picture and printing out a photo strip or two with three pictures on it. An open-air photo booth, however, is it’s own entity that takes up a very small amount of space with more of an opportunity for wide shots resulting in more people fitting into the picture. There is also a “photo booth movement” going on if you will, which incorporates the best of both worlds by placing a photo booth inside of a vintage vehicle or bicycle. This gives you the privacy of a traditional photo booth with all of the perks of a modern open-air booth! (Of course I had to put this in here, right?)
Hopefully these questions have helped you get a better understanding of what to ask when picking out your perfect photo booth! Now go out there and have some fun!
