This is a question we get A LOT! So many times one of our booth attendants will be directing people through the booth and ask whoever is next in line… “Would you like to take a photo, gif, or boomerang?” We would be as bold as to say about 75-85% of the time we get asked what a boomerang and gif actually are! We’d love to take the opportunity not only to give you some insight and info on what a boomerang and gif actually are.. but to hopefully get you PUMPED UP for one next time you come through one of our booths! Let’s get into it!

Let’s start out with what is known as GIFs. In short, GIFs (usually pronounced “jiffs,”) are multiple photos that you take in a row that when put together create an animated capture!

With our photo booth, this consists of 3 photo captures. But what makes GIFs so great? Well for starters they will make you laugh like you never have before… I can almost guarantee it! This is because before each new capture you have about 2 seconds to get ready to take the next shot. This usually results in some HILARIOUS captures that will leave you coming back for more over and over again! Another cool feature of GIFs are that they convert into MP4, making them compatible with all devices and social media platforms. You really can’t go wrong with a good GIF! Now onto boomerangs. Apart from good ol’ fashion pictures in a photo booth, boomerangs are our most popular form of capture hands down!

But what is a boomerang and why is it so popular? A boomerang is a short video (typically about 1-2 seconds) that plays forward and backwards in a loop that never ends.

It’s wildly popular because of the same reason a GIF is… the few seconds you have almost “force you” to take a capture that will have you laughing so hard your stomach will hurt! Upon taking the boomerang, you and your posse will have 5-6 seconds to quickly come up with something funny to do and then execute it. This can be something simple such as two people putting their palms together and then quickly pulling them apart creating the illusion that their is a never-ending high five. Quite literally every single event we have that utilizes this type of capture tells us how much fun it is to have this feature available… and that makes us so stinking happy to see people have such a blast with it!
